Attractive 1936 Pabst Blue Ribbon advertising display featuring portrait images of twenty-two NFL stars, as well as both the NFL and collegiate football schedules for the year. The unique design incorporates portraits of the NFL stars superimposed upon illustrated bodies. The twenty-two players represented here are Mel Hein, Don Hutson, Cliff Battles, Beattie Feathers, Dutch Clark, Ernie Caddell, Arnie Herber, Bill Smith, Tony Blazine, George Sauer, Ed Danowski, Mike Mikulak, Ed Manske, John Karcis, Clare Randolph, Ox Emerson, Ed Matesic, Dick Crayne, Ralph Kerchevel, Don Elser, Jack Manders, and Riley Smith. In the center of the display are illustrations of a football and a can of Pabst Export Beer, with the banner below displaying the company's slogan "It's Time For Pabst." The bottom half of the piece provides patrons with the 1936 NFL and collegiate football schedules, along with another illustrated Pabst advertisement that reads "Drink Pabst And The World Drinks With You." The display (24 x 34.5 inches), which is printed on thin paper stock, has a number of flaws commensurate with its age and former use, including small edge tears, foxing/staining along the top border and light-to-moderate creasing throughout. In Very Good condition over all, but closer to Excellent in its overall appearance. This is one of only two examples of this rare display we have ever seen and, given its fragile nature, its almost certain that very few others have survived the ages. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice
