This collection includes three of the four football sets issued by Fleer from 1960 to 1963. All three sets are clean and attractive. These Fleer sets are far scarcer than Topps sets of this same era, and the excellent value they offer collectors is beginning to be widely appreciated.
We selected two key
cards to be graded by PSA. 1) 1960 (132 cards):
55% Ex to Ex-Mt (including some higher) and 45% Vg to Vg-Ex (including seven lesser and a few with a tilted factory miscut). Keys:
#20 Baugh (Vg), 58 Blanda (Gd+), 116 Stram RC (Vg-Ex), 118 Mix RC (Ex), and 124 Kemp RC (EX-MT 6). 2) 1961 (220 cards):
20% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, 58% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 22% lesser (including a few with a slight trim, a few that measure small, and a few with a tilted factory miscut). Keys:
#11 Brown (EX-MT 6), 30 Unitas (Ex-Mt+), 41 Meredith RC (75/25 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt+), 59 Brodie RC (90/10 T/B, otherwise Ex+), 88 Starr (Vg), 89 Taylor (0/100 T/B, otherwise Vg-Ex), 90 Hornung (15/85 L/R, otherwise Ex+), 117 Layne (0/100 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt-Mt), 155 Kemp (Vg), 166 Blanda (slight trim, otherwise Ex+), 188 Flores RC (Vg-Ex+), 197 Otto RC (slight trim, otherwise Vg-Ex), and 215 Maynard RC (15/85 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt). The set is accompanied by a Series 1 wrapper displaying one small hole and normal packaging wrinkles and folds. 3) 1962 (88 cards):
36% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, 51% Vg-Ex to Ex, and 13% lesser. Keys: #16 Shaw RC (0/100 T/B, otherwise Ex-Mt), 46 Blanda (Nr/Mt), 59 Maynard (Ex), 72 Otto (85/15 L/R, otherwise Ex), and 79 Kemp (Ex-Mt). Total: 3 sets, 440 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500.
