Boston Red Sox home jersey worn by Hall of Fame outfielder Carl Yastrzemski in 1974. Graded A10 by MEARS. The white knit jersey is lettered "Red Sox" on the front and features the number "8" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in red on blue tackle twill. Located on the interior front tail are a "McAulliffe" label, a "1974" year tag, a "42" size tag, and a laundry tag. Yastrzemeski has signed the jersey in black Sharpie (grading "9") on the front, directly below the team name. The jersey is original as issued, with no alterations, and displays heavy wear, including a few light stains. "Yaz" led all Red Sox starters in both RBI (79), and batting average (.315) in 1974, with his 15 home runs tying him for the team lead with Rico Petrocelli. One of the greatest players in Red Sox history, Yastrzemski is one of only a few players in all of baseball to amass over 400 home runs and 3,000 hits. Numbered among his many other individual accomplishments and awards are three batting titles, a home run title, a Triple Crown, an MVP Award, and seven Gold Glove Awards. Today, his number "8" is among the few ever retired by the Red Sox. Graded A10 by MEARS (base grade of 10, with no deductions). LOA from MEARS. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $4,000+.
