Hank Aaron Adirondack block-letter model (“63A”) bat dating from the 1961-1963 manufacturing period. Graded GU 8.5 by PSA/DNA. As noted in the accompanying letter from PSA/DNA, the bat, which is not cracked, displays evidence of excellent use, including numerous ball and stitch marks on the left and back barrel, and slight checking (grain separation; the result of repeated ball contact) on the front and back barrel. Aaron’s uniform number (“44”) is written in black marker on both the knob and top of the barrel. Ideally, this bat dates from the peak of Aaron's legendary career. Aaron batted .327 with 34 home runs and 120 RBI in 1961, .323, with 45 home runs and 128 RBI in 1962, and .319 with league-leading totals in both home runs (44) and RBI (130) in 1963. Early Aaron game bats have always been the ideal for collectors and this is an exceptional example. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 33.1 ounces. LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. Opening Bid $2,500. Estimate $10,000+.
