This unique handcrafted trophy bat was created by joining together four separate pieces of wood, with the alternating shades of light and dark grains making for an attractive design. A silver-coated plaque, in the shape of a shield, has been attached to the center of the bat, with the engraved text reading "Presented by the M.S.D.B.B. Club to the Sun Dodgers July 16, 1904". Early baseball trophy bats have always been highly prized by collectors, and this is one of the most attractive examples we have handled. The bat, which is not cracked, displays moderate wear, including a few small indentations and light scratches, none of which detract from its overall Excellent appearance. Length: 34.5 inches. Weight: 41.6 ounces. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
