Dodger Stadium has been home to the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1962 to the present, and was also home to the Los Angeles Angels of the American League from 1962-1965. Surprisingly, Dodger Stadium is the third oldest Major League ballpark (only Fenway Park and Wrigley Field predate it) and the largest in terms of seating capacity. Offered here is a rare stadium seat from Dodger Stadium that was removed during the stadium's renovation in 1999. The orange-painted seat was an end unit, and features a gray metal side plate bearing the stenciled row number "DD" on the exterior. The number "1" is painted on the back rest. Accompanied by its original blue seat cushion. The seat, which appears to be all original, with no signs of restoration, displays heavy wear throughout, including peeling/chipping of the paint to the wood components, and loss of paint on the interior metal framework. The seat has been mounted to a two-inch wood base for full functionality. It should be noted that Dodger Stadium seats are far rarer than Ebbets Field seats. This is the first example we have ever offered and we have seen only one or two others at auction in the past fifteen years. 22 x 17 x 29 inches (with the seat unfolded). The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice
. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
