Candid original photo capturing Rabbit Maranville and Johnny Evers clowning around on the field with two other Boston Braves players in 1914. Both Maranville and Evers are wearing white home uniforms, while the other two players (including a third partially hidden behind Evers in the background), are dressed in the club’s blue road uniform, indicating that the photo was most likely taken during spring training. This photo originates directly from the Maranville family and bears a vintage ink notation on the reverse that reads “1914 – left – unknown, Rabbit, John Evers, Butch Schmidt.” While we cannot state with certainty, the other player appears to be Charlie Deal. If so, these four players represent the 1914 “Miracle Braves” starting infield. The photo (10 x 8 inches) displays a number of small border tears and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
