1911 PE2 Diamond Gum pin featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Chief Bender. Diamond Gum pins have long been recognized as one of the rarest and most desirable of all early baseball pinback sets. To the best of our knowledge, there has only been one complete set of all twenty-nine known Diamond Gum pins ever assembled! This is a particularly desirable sample from this rare set as Bender is pictured in the very same pose that appears on one of his T206 cards. The pin features a portrait image of Bender in uniform as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics. His name and team affiliation ("Bender. Phila. Am.") are printed in white along the left interior perimeter, while the words "World's Champions" are printed along the right interior perimeter. The lettering "Free With Diamond Gum" appears along the exterior perimeter. Complete with its original paper backing reading "Get A Collection of Ball Player's Buttons Free With Diamond Gum." The pin (one-inch diameter) remains in Near Mint condition.
