Six-page contract, dated February 29, 1972, between Hank Aaron and the Atlanta Braves, Inc., signed in blue ink by “Henry L. Aaron” (grading “10”), William Bartholomay (“10”), Atlanta Braves Chairman of the Board, and Chub Feeney (“10”), National League President. The one-year contract calls for Aaron to receive a salary of $165,000 for the 1973 season, with a portion of the salary to be deferred. Accompanying the contract is a one-page (8.5 x 11 inches) agreement (which stipulates the terms of the deferred payment schedule) signed in blue ink by both Aaron and Bartholomay (each grading “9”). Aaron, in his penultimate season with the Braves, batted .301 with 40 home runs and 96 RBI in 1973. He also finished the season with 713 lifetime home runs, one short of Babe Ruth’s long-standing record, which he would break on April 8, 1974. The contract (8.5 x 11 inches) is in Excellent to Mint condition. The one-page agreement is in Very Good to Excellent condition, with staple holes and tear along the top border.
