One-page handwritten letter, undated, signed by Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young. In his letter, to a “Mrs. Winnie Ervin,” he responds to her recent inquiry regarding a mutual friend. In part: “Your inquiry about about [sic] Mrs. P W. Andrews. Mrs. Andrews died some 10 years ago she was sure a fine girl and wife.” It has been signed “Yours, Cy Young.” Both the text and signature have been scripted in black ink and grade “9/10.” The letter (8 x 10 inches) displays one vertical and six horizontal folds, as well as light, scattered age toning. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Accompanied by a large envelope (12 x 9 inches; Vg-Ex) that is addressed to Mrs. Ervin (not in Young’s hand), but which displays a return address of “Red River Museum.” The envelope is not postmarked and is stamped “Returned for Postage.” Young’s name is written on the front of the envelope (perhaps the museum mailed it for Young?) Total: 2 items (letter and envelope). Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication.
