Pair of autographed items commemorating the New York Giants' 1954 World Championship season. 1) 1954 New York Giants team-signed baseball. The official National League (Giles) ball has been signed in blue ink by the following twenty-four team members: Mays, Irvin, Maglie, Hearn, Rhodes, McCall, Taylor, Corwin, Castleman, Thompson, Amalfitano, Gardner, Lockman, Giel, Katt, Liddle, Westrum, Grissom, Williams, Mueller, Dark, Gomez (sweet spot), Antonelli, and Hofman. The signature of Leo Durocher on the sweet spot is a stamped facsimile (common for Giants teams balls in the 1950s). The signatures range from "2" to "7," averaging "5." The ball is moderately toned, with a number of small abrasions. In Very Good condition. 2) Photo (8 x 10 inches) capturing thirty-nine member of the 1954 New York Giants in a classic team pose. The photo has been signed, in variety of inks (primarily blue marker), by the following nineteen players: Mays, Durocher (Mgr.), Irvin, Wilhelm, Garagiola, Fitzsimmons, Dark, Mueller, Maglie, Antonelli, Franks, Williams, Jansen, Worthington, Grissom, Westrum, Rhodes, Giel, and Amalfitano. Nearly all of the team members have signed the photo either atop or near his respective image, with the exception of Mays and Dark, both of whom have signed the photo along the top border. Mays originally signed the photo atop his image, but it appears to have been removed (the removal also affected a portion of the Dusty Rhodes signature next to it). Aside from that, the signatures are all boldly scripted and grade "9" or "10." The photo displays numerous moderate-to-light creases and a few small edge tears (some of which have been repaired by clear tape on the reverse). In Good to Very Good condition overall. Total: 2 items (ball and photo). Individual full LOAs from James Spence/JSA. Pre certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000++.
