Two 1939 World's Fair Laurel Cards, each issued by the Academy of Sport, and signed, respectively, in blue fountain by Joe McCarthy and Connie Mack. McCarthy's signature, which appears on an non-issued card, grades "9", while Mack's, which appears on a card issued to "Lee Sliuter, grades "5/6." Cards such as these were given to each student who attended the daily sports clinics sponsored by the Academy of Sport at the 1939 World's Fair. The clinics featured many famous sports personalities of the day, who volunteered their time to instruct youngsters on the finer points of the game, and routinely signed these souvenir cards for attendees. Both cards (4.25 x 2.75 inches) are in Excellent condition overall. The McCarthy card is accompanied by an individual COA from JSA. Total: 2 cards. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
