Presented is an extremely clean and overall high-grade near-complete set of 582 cards (out of 598) from the 1968 Topps series, highlighted by the rookie cards of HOFers Nolan Ryan and Johnny Bench. This set also includes the extremely popular “combo” cards featuring more than one player, with #480 Superstars (with Roberto Clemente) and #530 Bird Belters (Frank and Brooks Robinson). Includes both variations of #454 Checklist and #518 Checklist. Ten cards are graded by SGC (6), PSA (3), and BVG (1). Condition is 23% Nr/Mt-Mt (including some Mint), 36% Nr/Mt, and 41% Ex to Ex-Mt (including some slightly lesser and a couple miscut). Keys: #45 Seaver (NM 84), 104 Dietz (PSA GEM MT 10), 110 Aaron (NM 84), 150 Clemente (NM/MT 88), 177 Ryan RC (BVG NM-MT 8), 230 Rose (NM+ 86), 240 Kaline (Ex-Mt+), 247 Bench RC (Ex), 280 Mantle (NM/MT 88), 330 Maris (Nr/Mt-Mt+), 355 Banks (Nr/Mt-Mt), 401 Mets (PSA NM-MT 8), 408 Carlton (PSA NM-MT 8), 480 Manager's Dream (NM 84), 500 F. Robinson (Nr/Mt), 520 Brock (Ex-Mt), 530 Bird Belters (Nr/Mt), and 575 Palmer (Nr/Mt-Mt). Missing the following sixteen cards for completion: #20 B. Robinson, 36, 50 Mays, 80 Carew, 87 D. Williams, 93, 99 Colavito, 100 Gibson, 137, 220 Killebrew, 237, 250 Yastrzemski, 288, 306, 312, and 490 Super Stars Killebrew/Mantle/Mays. The 1968 Topps set is naturally loaded with stars and Hall of Famers, and complete or near-complete sets in this grade are extremely popular. The equivalent SMR in the assigned cards (not including the one PSA 10 and factoring the one half-grade at the lower whole-grade level) is $4,525. Total: 584 cards (near-complete set of 582 cards plus two variations). Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+.
