Complete set of 1969 Nabisco Team Flakes featuring all twenty-four cards on three complete boxes, as issued. This is the first full set in complete-box format that we have ever offered! Issued by Nabisco on the backs of cereal packages, the cards were billed as "mini posters" that could be cut out and exchanged, in complete set form, for large posters measuring two by three feet. Naturally, complete boxes rarely survived, making the offered trio especially desirable among collectors. A total of eleven Hall of Famers are featured in this set, including Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays. Each panel remains in Excellent condition with ten of the cards presenting as Near Mint or better. Slight surface imperfections are present under close inspection on fourteen of the cards, including Aaron, Brock, Clemente, Mays, and B. Robinson, which would likely prevent them from grading Mint according to professional grading standards. The boxes are missing some of the top and bottom flaps but still, their condition is particularly remarkable in light of the fact that these Team Flakes cereal boxes were actually exposed to the elements of the grocery-store shelves. We can only assume that in 1969 the cereal boxes were purchased by a true collector with the express purpose of preserving the cards in their ideal form. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a remarkably attractive complete set of this unusual late 1960s food issue with so many stars, in its original as issued form. Total: 3 complete boxes (24 cards). Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
