Near-complete set of eleven 1971 Bazooka unnumbered panels plus five duplicates, for a total of sixteen panels. Missing just one panel (missing Freehan/Clemente/Osteen) for completion. 1971 was the final year of Bazooka baseball cards. Hall of Famers and stars in this set include Aaron, Mays, Rose, Jackson, Bench, Gibson, Killebrew, Yastrzemski, McCovey, B. Robinson, and Aparicio. This near-set consists of the following:
Agee/Killebrew/Jackson (Ex), Campaneris/Rose/Cepeda (Ex-Mt+), Carty/Bench/Harper (Vg+ due to creases on Harper only), Fregosi/Williams/McNally (box minus flaps, card panel is Vg+), Hundley/Mays/Hunter (box minus flaps, card panel is Vg-Ex due to crease on Hundley only), Marichal/Howard/Melton (box minus flaps, card panel is Vg+), McCovey/Yaz/Wright (Vg due to crease on McCovey only), Merritt/Aparicio/Murcer (box minus flaps, card panel is Nr/Mt), Petrocelli/McDowell/Gaston (box minus flaps, card panel is Vg-Ex), B. Robinson/Aaron/Dierker (box minus flaps, card panel is Vg-Ex due to creases on Dierker and Robinson only), and Staub/Gibson/Otis (complete box with flaps, Nr/Mt+). Duplicates (5 panels):
Campaneris/Rose/Cepeda (tape on Campaneris, otherwise Vg+), Hundley/Mays/Hunter (Vg-Ex+ due to wrinkle on Hunter only), Marichal/Howard/Melton (Vg-Ex), Petrocelli/McDowell/Gaston (Vg-Ex), and B. Robinson/Aaron/Dierker (Fr). This is an overall clean set, with a much better appearance than the technical grades might suggest, of these unusual, scarce, and underrated Bazooka Bubble Gum package-design cards, representing Bazooka’s final effort. Total: 16 panels (representing forty-eight cards).
