Presented is a rarely offered collection of five two-card uncut panels (which accounts for 10 of the 26 cards in the set) of 1953 Hunter Wieners cards highlighted by Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst. This regionally issued set features exclusively St. Louis Cardinals players. A two-card panel was issued with each pack of Hunter hot dogs. Condition has always been a problem with these cards due to their method of issue. The panels in this collection are the exception and present extremely well, with bright colors and crisp images. Four of the panels in the collection appear to have no wax coating on the surface of these cards, which leads us to believe that these four avoided being packaged with hot dogs, and may have originally come from someone who worked for the company. The collection consists of the following: Stanky/Jablonski (Vg), Johnson/Brazle (Ex, no wax coating), Schoendienst/Crimian (HOF, Ex appearance on the front but downgraded to Fr/Gd due to paper loss on the back affecting only the Crimian card, no wax coating), Rice/Mizell (Ex, no wax coating), and Yuhas/Fusselman (Vg-Ex, no wax coating). This is an outstanding high-grade collection of five surviving two-card panels from this scarce regional issue that would be at home in any advanced collection. Total: 5 panels. Reserve $1,000.
