Offered is a complete set of forty-eight cards from the 1948 Bowman series, the first baseball-card set issued by Bowman Gum, highlighted by key rookie cards of many stars and Hall of Famers. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by SGC (with the exception of three cards graded by PSA as noted below). SGC Grading Composite: NM/MT 88 (2 cards): #23 and 43 (PSA NM-MT 8). EX/NM 80 (10 cards): #1, 12, 17 Slaughter, 21, 24 SP, 25, 35, 39, 40, and 45. EX+ 70 (13 cards): #3 Kiner RC, 4 Mize, 10, 14, 15, 16 SP, 22 SP, 29 SP, 31, 32, 33, 41, and 47 Thomson RC. EX 60 (8 cards): #11, 19, 27, 28 SP, 34 SP, 36 Musial RC, 37 (PSA EX 5), and 38 Schoendienst RC. VG/EX+ 55 (6 cards): #6 Berra RC, 9, 13 SP, 18 Spahn RC, 42, and 46. VG/EX 50 (6 cards): #2 (PSA VG-EX 4), 7 SP, 8 Rizzuto RC SP, 30 SP, 44, and 48. VG 40 (3 cards): #5 Feller, 20 SP, and 26 SP. An outstanding opportunity to acquire a relatively affordable complete set of this landmark Bowman issue. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grades for just thirty-three of the forty-eight cards (excluding the fifteen cards graded less than EX, among them the rookie cards of Berra and Rizzuto, and factoring in the thirteen half grades at the lower whole-grade level) is $1,879. Total: 48 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+.
