Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. This card is the only example of John O’Connor (New York Highlanders) from the W600 Sporting Life cabinet-card set graded at any level by either SGC or PSA. It is in remarkably high grade for a W600 Sporting Life cabinet card. Only twelve examples (of any subject) have graded higher than EX/NM 80 out of 264 W600 cabinet cards evaluated by SGC to date. W600s are one of the rarest sets from the early part of the century, and are one of the most substantial and well-made card sets ever produced. With good reason, they have always been highly prized by serious collectors. Bright, crisp, and perfectly clean, front and back, with strong corners (wear most noticeable in the bottom left), and a flawless image. The blank reverse is perfectly clean. This is a very striking ultra-high-grade example from one of the most important of all twentieth-century sets, which would be a significant addition to any serious sample or prewar-card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
