Presented is an outstanding six-card uncut panel of 1955 Rodeo Meats cards. This rare regional issue features exclusively Kansas City Athletics players, and was issued to commemorate the inaugural year of the Athletics in Kansas City. Rodeos are one of the scarcest and most distinctive of all 1950s regional food issues. We have seen a single uncut sheet of Rodeo Meats, featuring twenty-five cards, but this is the only smaller panel we can recall seeing. It originated from a storeroom in the Rodeo Meats plant, which was closing in 1985, according to the letter of provenance (dated 1993) that accompanies the panel. Each of the six cards is bright and crisp, free of any creases, and presents as Excellent or better (with the exception of Astroth, which has a small spot of paper loss on front). The sheet technically grades more modestly due to two streaks of adhesive residue on front, which may suggest that this panel was kept for internal company records (similar to Topps file copy cards and sheets) at one time. This is a fascinating and unusual six-card panel from one of the scarcest regional issues produced. Dimensions: 7-15/16 x 7 inches. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
