Graded NM 7 by PSA (submitted by REA). Bright, crisp, high-grade example, with crystal-clear registration, virtually perfect borders, sharp corners, and a flawless reverse. Centered slightly towards the upper right corner. In 1955, at the age of twenty-three, the young Mantle had a breakout year. In 147 games he hit 37 home runs, batted .306, and led the league with a slugging percentage of .611. This was also a breakout year for Bowman when they introduced their "television" set during a time when millions of homes across the country were first being exposed to television broadcast. The flush-to-the-border wood-grain design of 1955 Bowman makes them very susceptible to corner and edge wear, making high-grade examples very difficult to find. This is a spectacular card, ideal for a high grade 1955 Bowman set or Mantle card collection. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+.
