Presented is a partial set of forty-six different cards (out of seventy-five in a complete set) from the 1941 R330 Double Play issue, which features two players per card. Issued by Gum, Inc., the same company responsible for the Play Ball sets issued from 1939 to 1941 (R330s are much scarcer), this set has never received the collector interest that it deserves. Included within this grouping are many Hall of Famers and stars of the era, including Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio. Condition of this partial set is 38% Vg-Ex to Ex, 33% Vg, and 29% lesser (mostly Gd). We have selected four cards to be graded by PSA. Keys: #23-24 Reese/Higbe (VG-EX+ 4.5), 31-32 Ott/Young (Ex), 53-54 McCosky/Gehringer (Vg-Ex), 57-58 Williams/Tabor (VG-EX 4), 59-60 Cronin/Foxx (Vg), 61-62 Gomez/Rizzuto (Vg-Ex+), 63-64 DiMaggio/Keller (VG-EX 4), 65-66 Rolfe/Dickey (Ex), 67-68 Gordon/Ruffing (Vg-Ex+), 77-78 Krakauskas/Feller (Vg+), 81-82 Williams/Cronin (EX 5), 85-86 Greenberg/Ruffing (Vg), and 99/100 Mize/Litwhiler (Gd). Missing the following cards for completion: #19/20, 39/40 Mize/Slaughter, 51/52 Newsom/Greenberg, 89/90 Ott/Whitehead, and 101/102 through 149/150. This is a very attractive medium-grade partial set of this overlooked prewar issue. The SMR value for just the four graded cards is $845. Total: 46 cards (representing 92 players). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+.
