Presented is a collection of four cards of Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson spanning the years 1913 to 1921. Each card is professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (three) and SGC (one). 1) 1913 National Game (EX 5). Crisp and clean, with near-perfect centering and light corner wear. An extremely light surface wrinkle accounts for the assigned grade. 2) 1914 Polo Grounds Game (VG 40). Crisp image, excellent centering, and light, even corner wear. Downgraded for a crease across the upper right corner and some natural toning. 3) 1915 E145 Cracker Jack (PR 1 [MK]). Well centered, with a few light wrinkles, pencil marks on the reverse, and a pair of punch holes that do not impact Mathewson’s image. 4) 1921 W516-2-2 (Authentic). This example displays a crisp image, with centering to the left and a few diagonal creases. Presenting as Good condition, we believe that PSA has assigned the Authentic designation because the card has been hand cut to measurements smaller than the standard for the issue. This is a very attractive collection of Christy Mathewson cards from several classic prewar-card issues. Total: 4 items. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
