Graded VG+ 45 by SGC. Extremely rare bakery card featuring a striking image of Hall of Famer Chief Bender set against a green background. Issued in 1916 by the General Baking Company of New Orleans., Mothers' Bread cards are so rare they are “off the radar” of most collectors. The Standard Catalog checklist for this set is incomplete and continues to be a work in progress. This is an exceptionally attractive card with bright, crisp colors, outstanding surface gloss, even wear on the corners, and near-perfect centering. The reverse has a boldly printed advertisement. This is a very striking and clean Hall of Famer sample card from this rare prewar food issue. Reserve $300. Estimate $500++.
