Graded NM 84 by SGC (submitted by REA). This is the ONLY example graded at this level by SGC with none higher! This is an extraordinary grade for a D304! In fact, only five cards (of any subject) have ever been graded NM or higher by SGC out of 396 cards evaluated to date (four NM 84 and one NM+ 86). This extremely sharp looking sample card, from the rare D304 Brunners Bread bakery series, features catcher Mike Kelly of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Similar in design to tobacco and candy cards of the era, Brunners measure slightly larger than T206s, at 1.75 x 2.5 inches, and are considerably rarer than most 1910 era "E" and "T" card issues. The fronts feature very attractive full-color illustrations, each of which is unique to this issue. These bakery cards were issued in Buffalo and come with several different styles of advertising on the reverse. This sample features the Brunners Butter Krust brand bread ad on the back. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with four sharp corners, perfect registration, brilliant colors, and snow-white borders. The reverse is flawless with bold green print set against a striking off-white background. A very clean, attractive, and, for this issue, very high-grade sample card from this scarce prewar food issue. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
