Graded VG 40 by SGC (submitted by REA). This is the ONLY example graded at this level with none higher! Scarce N175 "Small" Gypsy Queen of Arthur Irwin of the Philadelphia A's. This card is the same size and general format as N172 Old Judge, but with a slightly different design and advertising for Goodwin's Gypsy Queen brand of tobacco. There has always been some confusion as to the catalog number of the smaller Gypsy Queens (similar in size to N172s and not to be confused with the even rarer large N175 Gypsy Queens, of which nine different cards are known) because the catalog does not distinguish between the two sizes of cards represented by "N175." This card has an extremely strong image, a quality highly prized among nineteenth-century collectors. A few light creases are visible but are not very prominent and do not significantly impact the extremely impressive, and otherwise Very Good, appearance of the card. The blank reverse is fairly clean. An extremely sharp-looking sample from this rare and unusual Old Judge-related nineteenth-century issue. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
