Graded EX 5 by PSA. This is the ONLY example graded at this level with just two higher! Extremely attractive high-grade example of Hall of Famer Frank "Home Run" Baker from the 1912 T227 "Series of Champions." Issued by Miners Extra and Honest Long Cut, T227 “Series of Champions” are unique in design. There are only twenty-five cards in the set, including four ballplayers. This high-grade example of Baker is perfectly clean both front and back, with striking colors, no stains, light wear on the square corners, and near-perfect centering. The reverse features a biography of Baker and advertising for Honest Long Cut Tobacco. This card is in a far better state than usually found for this very condition-sensitive tobacco issue. This may, in part, be because T227s, which were packaged in tobacco pouches without protection from either tobacco or general handling, rarely survive in high grade. This is a beautiful example of one of Baker's rarest and most unusual tobacco cards from this rare, uniquely designed, and, in our opinion, extremely overlooked tobacco issue. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++.
