Original-owner collection of ninety-four T206 White Border tobacco cards (sixty-three different), highlighted by sixteen Hall of Famers (eleven different). These cards were part of a totally untouched collection of 1910-era tobacco cards consigned to this auction (all cards from this collection appear in several lots of the auction) that was saved for decades by the family of the original owner. All have Piedmont or Sweet Caporal backs (except one Tolstoi). Condition of the cards in this collection is modest overall, with nine cards grading Vg and the balance grading Pr to Gd. Keys: Baker (Pr), Bender/no trees (Fr), Bresnahan/portrait (Pr), three Chance/portrait, yellow (Vg and two Fr), six Chase/portrait, blue (Gd, Fr, and four Pr), Crawford/with bat (Pr), two Gandil (Black Sox, Vg and Pr), two Griffith/batting (Gd+ and Gd), Huggins/hands at mouth (Pr), Jennings/both hands (Vg), McGraw/glove at hip (Fr), three Wheat (Gd and two Pr), and Young/glove shows (Fr). Perhaps more than any other vintage issue, T206s are extremely popular in all grades. This is an ideal collection to serve as the foundation for the assembly of a modest-grade complete set of T206, the most popular and classic set of the 1910 era. Total: 94 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $1,000++.
