Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by PSA. Presented is an extremely attractive example of the T206 Magie error card. Magie is one of the rarest cards in the T206 set, and along with Plank, Wagner, and of course the rare Doyle, is usually one of the last cards required by collectors to complete the T206 set. The Magie error card has been recognized as one of card collecting's great rarities since the days of Jefferson Burdick. (In fact, Burdick singled out the Magie as one of the significant T206 rarities in the original American Card Catalog.) The card is bright and clean, extremely well centered, with a crisp, perfectly focused image and bold colors. A few very minor surface creases are relegated to the corners and avoid the central image, maintaining the card's superb overall eye-appeal. The corners show light, even rounding. The reverse of the card features a boldly printed advertisement for Piedmont Cigarettes (150 Subjects, Factory No. 25). This card originally appeared as lot #417 in REA's Spring 2016 auction where it realized $14,400. It has been consigned directly by the buyer at that sale. This is an extremely pleasing example of one of card collecting's most famous error cards and one of the hobby's most legendary rarities. Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000+.
