Presented is a complete set of the landmark 1954-1955 Topps Hockey series, the first hockey set issued by Topps. This important set includes only sixty cards, and features players from the four American teams: Detroit, New York, Chicago, and Boston. This is an extremely high quality complete set of 1954-1955 Topps, one of the most popular and classic of all hockey-card sets. Condition of this set is 29% Nr/Mt (including a couple Nr/Mt-Mt), 31% Ex-Mt, 28% Ex, and 12% Vg-Ex. Twenty cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA. Keys: #1 Gamble (Ex), 3 Howell (Ex), 5 Kelly (Ex), 8 Howe (EX-MT 6), 10 Worsley (NM 7), 11 Bathgate (Ex+), 18 Mohns RC (NM 7), 20 Gadsby (Vg-Ex), 39 Delvecchio (Ex+), 41 Stanley (Vg-Ex+), 49 Quackenbush (Ex-Mt), 51 Lindsay (EX-MT 6), 56 LaPrade (NM 7), 58 Sawchuk (Ex), and 60 Schmidt (Vg-Ex). Other Graded Cards: NM-MT 8 (3 cards): #35, 47, 50. NM 7 (11 cards): #4, 9, 14, 24, 28, 30, 33, 37, 46, 52, and 55. EX-MT 6 (1 card): #23. The flush-to-the-bottom-border design of the 1954-1955 Topps Hockey set makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear, and makes the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is an exceptionally attractive mid- to high-grade set, far above average for this issue, with tremendous eye-appeal across the board. A high-quality and very carefully assembled complete set of one of card collecting's most popular hockey issues. The total SMR value for the graded cards is $2,657. Total: 60 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+.
