Rarely offered and very impressive-looking complete set of 1936-1937 V304D O-Pee-Chee consisting of all thirty-six cards comprising this rare, unusual, and very substantial 1930s Canadian hockey issue. The collection is highlighted by fifteen Hall of Famers, including Howie Morenz, Eddie Shore, King Clancy, and Aurel Joliat. All thirty-six cards are professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. The complete set currently ranks fifth on the PSA Set Registry with an overall GPA of 5.01.PSA Grading Composite: One NM-MT 8: #113. Three NM 7: #108, 110, and 132 Smith (HOF). Fourteen EX-MT 6: #99, 103, 111, 114, 115, 116, 117 Goodfellow (HOF), 119, 120, 121 Morenz (HOF), 127, 129 Joliat (HOF), 130, and 131. Eleven EX 5: #98 Schriner RC (HOF), 101 Apps RC (HOF), 102 L. Conacher (HOF), 104, 105 Colville RC (HOF), 106, 109, 112, 122 Horner (HOF), 125 Clancy (HOF), and 128 Patrick (HOF). Five VG-EX 4: #97 Broda RC (HOF), 100, 107, 118 Shore (HOF), and 123 C. Conacher (HOF). Two GOOD 2: #124 Jackson (HOF, MK) and 126. Cards from the 1936-1937 V304D O-Pee-Chee set are very difficult to find in high grade. These cards are designed with die-cut backgrounds that can be punched out and folded back to allow each card to stand up. Because of the die-cut stand-up design, many V304Ds are naturally found in damaged condition, and in many cases are found with the die-cut backgrounds entirely lost. Higher-grade examples tend to be downgraded by grading companies due to very minor factors relating to their die-cut design. The reverse of each card is printed in both English and French. A complete set such as this is very rarely seen. In fact, this is the first complete V304D set, and only the second sizable collection, we have ever offered! This is an extremely attractive and, for V304s, very high-grade complete set, from one of the rarest and most classic 1930s hockey sets. The SMR value in the assigned grades is $10,628. Total: 36 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++.
