Pair of vest-style game-used Cuban League game-used jerseys dating from the 1960s. Cuban-League items are exceedingly rare, especially game-used jerseys. These are the first Cuban League jerseys we have ever offered and we have only seen a few others at auction over the years.
It should be noted that this collection has been consigned by an extremely dedicated Cuban-baseball historian and is one of several Cuban/Mexican/Negro League lots originating from him in this auction. 1) Azucareros jersey. The grey pinstripe jersey is lettered "Azucareros" on the front, and displays the number "35" on the reverse. The name "P. Garcia" is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in brown tackle twill on white felt. A small white tag is located in the collar, but any lettering it once displayed has faded beyond legibility. According to our consignor, this jersey was worn by Cuban and Mexican League player Pablo Garcia. The jersey displays considerable wear, including numerous moth holes, many of which are quite large. In Fair condition overall. 2) Las Villas jersey. The grey pinstripe jersey is lettered "Las Villas" on the front and displays the number "30" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in faded orange tackle twill on black felt. The jersey displays considerable wear, including numerous moth holes, many of which are quite large. In Fair condition overall. Total: 2 jerseys.
