Rare Brooklyn Dodgers ticket stub (1.25 x 2.75 inches) from Sandy Koufax's first Major League victory, on August 27, 1955, at Ebbets Field. Encapsulated and graded VG 3 by PSA. This is the first example of this ticket stub we have ever seen, let alone offered. When Koufax signed a contract with the Dodgers in 1955 at the age of nineteen, the amount of his signing bonus ($14,000) required him to remain on the Dodgers' major league roster for two full seasons. As a result, he saw very limited action during his rookie campaign, appearing in just twelve games. His first win, however, on August 27th at Ebbets Field gave fans a foreshadowing of what was to come in later years. Koufax limited the Cincinnati Reds to two hits and struck out fourteen in a complete-game 7-0 win, with the victory also marking the first of his forty career shutouts. Milestone ticket stubs of Hall of Fame players have always been highly prized by collectors. This is not only an extremely rare stub commemorating Koufax's first win, but one that is also desirable for the fact that it dates from the club's historic 1955 World Championship season. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
