Rare program from a dinner held in honor of the 1914 "World's Tour Players" at the Biltmore Hotel in New York City, on March 7, 1914. The eight-page large-format program (9 x 12 inches) features a colorful illustrated cover, while the interior pages provide the dates and scores of all of the games, the rosters for each club, the list of guest speakers, and the menu for the night. While not as well known today as Spalding's legendary 1888/1889 World Tour, which was extensively covered in a number of early history works, the global navigation made by the New York Giants and Chicago White Sox in 1913-1914 was, by all accounts, equal to its predecessor in every way and much celebrated at the time. This is a rare souvenir from that memorable sojourn and the first example we have ever offered. The program is toned and displays a few small edge tears to both covers, as well as few minor areas of light staining. The spine and a few small tears to a few of the interior pages have been professionally repaired. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600.
