Rare Federal League stock certificate, dated March 24, 1914, issued by "The Federal Base Ball Club of Baltimore, Inc." The certificate, for one share of "Preferred Capital Stock, is numbered "324" and made out to "Joseph Majane." It has been signed in black fountain pen along the base by both the club's treasurer, "Arthur L. Jones," and president, "Carrol W. Rasin" (both signatures grade "9"). The Federal League was in existence only for the two-year period 1914-1915. As such, all items related to the league are scarce. This example is no exception, and the fact that it dates from the first season of the "outlaw" league, and just three weeks prior to Baltimore's first game, makes it especially desirable. The certificate (11.5 x 8.5 inches) displays two vertical folds and light toning on the reverse. In Excellent to Mint condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
