Full ticket to game 1 of the 1911 World Series between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Athletics held at the Polo Grounds in New York on October 14th. Game 1 witnessed a classic pitching duel, which is not surprising given the respective starters, Christy Mathewson for the Giants and Chief Bender for the A's, were each future Hall of Famers. Mathewson defeated Bender by a score of 2-1, with both hurlers going the distance. Bender and the A's would have the last laugh though, as they defeated the Giants in six games to win their second consecutive World Championship. The ticket (4.5 x 1.5 inches), for a "Lower Grand Stand" seat, displays a cancelation punch in the center and a few extremely small, light creases. In Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
