Rare program issued for a testimonial dinner in honor of Philadelphia Athletics star pitcher Eddie Plank on November 2, 1905. The small, one-page program simply features the dinner menu for the event, with no venue listed. As noted by the printing on the cover, this dinner was given to Plank for "His Brilliant Success on the Base Ball Field by His Admiring Friends at Home." Plank finished the 1905 season with a 24-12 record for the American League Champion A's, so he was obviously deserving of dinner that off-season. It probably wasn't the first, or last, as 1905 marked Plank's fourth consecutive season of twenty or more wins, and he attained that win total four more times afterwards as well. He finished his career in 1917 with 326 wins and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1946. The program (3.5 x 4.75 inches) displays a small tear along the top border of the front cover and is complete with its original tie strings. In Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
