Baseball tintype, housed in its original gutta-percha case, dating from late nineteenth century. The exquisite photograph captures two players posing together in a formal studio setting. One of the players is holding a bat and ball, the other, a catcher's mask. Both are dressed in identical bib-front uniforms bearing a "C" on the front. The tintype is in apparent Near Mint condition and remains housed in its original protective case (3.25 x 3.75 inches) that features a gold mat and gilt-edged frame. The case remains in Excellent to Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
