Offered here are two complete sets of Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcards, each comprised of 275 cards (including the fifteen checklist cards), with one set featuring sixty-six signed cards and the other set featuring sixty-five signed cards (the count includes two signed non-ballplayer cards for each set: "D" and "E"). Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcards, which are universally recognized as one of the most classic issues ever produced for autograph collectors, were originally issued in fifteen individual series between 1980 and 2001. With the exception of seven cards (featuring Hall of Fame Officials, Perez-Steele Gallery executives, and other non-ballplayers) only Baseball Hall of Fame members are included in the set. Each card was limited to a print run of 10,000 and every card is individually numbered on the reverse. Of the 275 cards in the set, only 104 could possibly have been signed by Hall of Fame players (the balance of the players passed away prior to the date of publication). Both of the offered sets have been completed using cards from various numbered editions. All of the signatures have been scripted on the front in blue Sharpie and grade "9" or "10." Both sets feature the exact same sixty-five signed cards, with the second set also including a signed card for Travis Jackson (Seventh Series; card 179). With the exception of the extra Jackson card in the second set, the following are the sixty-five signed cards in each respective set (organized by series):
Second Series: Hubbell and Gehringer; Third Series: Dickey, Terry, DiMaggio, Feller, and Roush; Fourth Series: Appling, T. Williams, Campanella, Musial, and Boudreau: Fifth Series: Berra, Gomez, Koufax, Leonard, Wynn, Irvin, Spahn, Bell, Conlan, Ford, Mantle, Herman, and J. Johnson: Sixth Series: Kiner, Lemon, Roberts, Banks, Sewell, Mathews, Mays, Kaline, Snider, Gibson, and Mize; Seventh Series: Aaron, Chandler, F. Robinson, B. Robinson, and Marichal; Eighth Series: Aparicio, Drysdale, Ferrell, Killebrew, Reese, Brock, Slaughter, and Wilhelm; Ninth Series: Doerr, McCovey, Dandridge, Hunter, and B. Williams; Tenth Series: Stargell, Barlick, Bench, Schoendienst, and Yastrzemski; Eleventh Series: Morgan, Palmer, Carew, Jenkins, and Perry. Additionally, the following non-ballplayer cards in each set have been signed on the front in blue Sharpie (grading "10") by the listed individuals: card "D" (Ed Stack), and card "E" (Frank Steele, Peggy Steele, and Dick Perez). Near Mint condition overall. Total: 550 cards (131 signed; 127 Hall of Fame player cards and 4 non-ballplayer cards). Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
