Black-and-white (Artvue) Hall of Fame postcard of Jimmie Foxx, signed in blue ink (grading "9/10") in the lower margin. Jimmy Foxx is, naturally, one of the most highly prized of all signed Hall of Fame postcards, and this is an exceptional example. The classic design of these postcards has always held a special appeal for autograph collectors. In light of the rarity, popularity as a field of collecting, and the display value of signed Hall of Fame postcards, it is almost surprising that single-signed Hall of Fame ball collectors are not well known for also attempting to acquire signed Hall of Fame postcards, especially since they are far less expensive and have such extraordinary display value. The postcard (3.5 x 5.5 inches) displays a tiny bit of wear to the lower right corner and the year ("1957") is written on the reverse in pencil (possibly referencing the year Foxx signed the card). Excellent condition overall. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
