Collection of seven complete oddball sets issued in the 1970s and 1980s, highlighted by five different Kellogg's baseball card sets. Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, the Kellogg's cereal company was the only true competition for Topps in the baseball-card market. These sets include cards of Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Ernie Banks, Nolan Ryan, Tom Seaver, Reggie Jackson, and Pete Rose. All the other stars of the day are also included. Of course, instead of having to buy only a stick of gum to get a stack of cards, you had to buy an entire box of cereal just to get one card! This collection consists of the following: 1) 1970 Kellogg's Complete Set (75): Condition is Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, with two Ex and four cracked (including Rose). 2) 1978 Kellogg's Complete Set (57): Condition is Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt, with three cracked. 3) 1979 Kellogg's Complete Set (60): Condition is Nr/Mt to Mint. 4) 1980 Kellogg's Complete Set (60): Condition is Nr/Mt-Mt to Mint. 5) 1982 Kellogg's Near Complete Set (63/64): Condition is Nr/Mt-Mt to Mint, with a couple slightly lower. Missing #64 Eddie Murray. 6) 1978 Olde Cards Inc. Halsey Hall Recalls Set (21): Condition is Ex to Nr/Mt. 7) 1981-1989 National Baseball Hall of Fame Gold Metallic Plaque Collection (202): Condition is Nr/Mt-Mt to Mint, housed in original album as issued. While to us it seems these cards were issued just yesterday, the fact is that all of these cards are now beginning to have some age to them! They are being rediscovered by the new generation of vintage-card collectors, and appreciated for the great value they represent, especially compared with earlier issued sets. This is an extremely substantial and comprehensive collection of cards from theis classic food issue. Total: 7 sets, 538 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
