Graded NM 84 by SGC. Beautiful high-grade example of one of Ted Williams' most popular cards. This is an extremely strong example of this classic 1950s bubble-gum card. Bright and clean, front and back, with flawless colors, four strong corners, and centered just ever-so-slightly to the top left. Clean, boldly printed reverse. The remarkable condition is all the more impressive as (being card #1 in the set) this card would naturally receive more handling and wear. Though Williams broke into the majors all the way back in 1939, he was still in top form at the time of this card's issue (his sixteenth major league season). Williams hit .388 in 1957, and the statistics on the reverse of the card show Williams hitting .345 the previous season. A very attractive high-grade example of one of Williams' most classic cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
