1928 New York Yankees and 1928 St. Louis Cardinals World Series Programs (2)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $593
Pair of programs issued, respectively, by the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals for the 1928 World Series. 1) New York Yankees 1928 World Series program. The substantial twenty-page large-format program is especially noted for its extremely decorative cover, which features portraits of opposing managers Miller Huggins and Bill McKechnie. Few programs are more highly suited for display. The interior pages include photos of league and team officials, as well as portraits of twenty-five members of both the Yankees and Cardinals. The program (9.25 x 11 inches), which is not scored, displays moderate handling wear, including a few minor creases and surface blemishes to the covers. The interior pages are clean and bright. Very Good condition overall. 2) St. Louis Cardinals 1928 World Series program. The sixteen-page program features an illustrated cover of two Cardinals perched on bats, while the interior pages include portrait photos of both the Yankees and Cardinals team members. The program, which is not scored, displays a number of large tears that affect the front cover and most of the pages, as well as two heavy vertical folds. Fair condition overall. Total: 2 programs (one Vg and one Fr).
