1929 Philadelphia Athletics and 1929 Chicago Cubs World Series Programs (2)

Pair of programs issued, respectively, by the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Athletics for the 1929 World Series. 1) Chicago Cubs 1929 World Series Program. The colorful cover displays photos of each club's manager, Joe McCarthy of the Cubs and Connie Mack of the A's, while the back cover features an illustration of Wrigley Field. The interior pages include portrait photos of members of both clubs, as well as team and league officials. The eight-page program (6 x 9 inches) has been scored for Game 1 and records a 3-1 Philadelphia victory. The program displays a moderate-to-heavy vertical fold and general handling wear. In Very Good condition overall. 2) Philadelphia Athletics 1929 World Series Program. The black-and-white cover features portrait images of each club's manager within an illustrated design picturing each team's mascot (elephant and bear cub) and a representation of Shibe Park. The extremely substantial 64-page program features both individual photos and biographies of the A's team members and individual photos of the Cubs players. Neatly scored in pencil for the fifth and final game of the series, which was won by Philadelphia by a score of 3-2. The program (8.5 x 11 inches) displays a number of small tears along the spine, a few light creases and edge tears to the covers, and light, general wear. In Very Good condition overall. Total: 2 programs.
