1914-1925 Walter Johnson Photo Collection (6) - Direct Johnson Family Provenance!
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $593
Collection of six original Walter Johnson photos dating from approximately 1914 to 1925. Each of these photos has been directly consigned by a Johnson family member, in whose possession they have been for these many decades. All of the photos capture Johnson warming up on the sidelines. The three smaller photos (two 7 x 5 inches and the other 7 x 7 inches) all appear to date to the 1912-1915 time period, while the three larger photos (8 x 10 inches) are from the 1920 to 1925 era. (The dating of the photos is based primarily upon the uniform styles shown.) The credit stamp, "NEA Service, Inc.," appears on the reverse of one of the larger photos. An "American Press Association" credit stamp is seen on the reverse of one of the smaller images. All display paper residue on the reverse from having once been mounted, and then removed, from an album. Fair to Good condition overall, with nearly all displaying moderate-to-heavy creases and/or tears, including two with small tape repairs on the front. Total: 6 photos. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+.
