1919 Cubs and White Sox Sketch Book
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $711
Fifty-two page soft-cover program, titled Sketch Book and Complete Records of Our Sox and Cubs, issued in 1919. As noted on the title page, this program was compiled by A. A. Prusank of Chicago. The book features the career statistics and short biographies for each team member of both the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs. The only photos in the book are those of White Sox owner Charles Comiskey and the managers of each club: Kid Gleason and Fred Mitchell. The book does feature, however, the biographies of players, including for each of the infamous "eight men out" on the White Sox who conspired to "throw" the 1919 World Series: Joe Jackson, Ed Cicotte, Lefty Williams, Chick Gandil, Swede Risberg, Hap Felsch, Buck Weaver, and Fred Mullin. The program (7 x 5.25 inches) displays a light vertical fold and a tiny stain on the back cover, and is otherwise in outstanding Excellent to Mint condition. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
