1912-1939 New York Yankees Scorecard Collection (19) with Both Ruth and Gehrig Home Run Games and 1939 All Star Game

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,370

Collection of nineteen New York Yankees scorecards, spanning the years 1912 through 1939. Most have approximately thirty pages including the center scoring section. Highlights include an early 1912 program featuring Joe Jackson in the lineup for Cleveland, three Ruth home-run scorecards, one Gehrig home-run scorecard, and a 1939 All-Star Game program. Unless otherwise noted, all of the scorecards have been scored and measure 6.5 x 10 inches. 1) 1912 (Cleveland, with Joe Jackson in lineup for Naps; dated 7/19 in pencil on cover; Ex). 2) 1913 (Detroit, with Cobb and Crawford in lineup for Tigers; dated 9/16 in pencil on cover; Gd-Vg, with corner tear in lower right affecting covers and interior pages). 3) 1914 (Philadelphia, with Collins and Baker in lineup for A's; Fr). 4) 1915 (Detroit, with Cobb and Crawford in lineup for Tigers; dated 9/11 in pencil on cover; Vg). 5) 1916 (Philadelphia, with Lajoie in lineup for A's; Gd-Vg). 6) 1920 (Boston, with Ruth in lineup for Yankees; Vg, with an ink stain on cover). 7) 1924 (Cleveland, with Ruth in lineup for Yankees; not scored; Gehrig is NOT listed in the roster; Vg). 8) 1925 (Detroit, with Ruth and Gehrig in lineup for Yankees, records Ruth's 22nd home run of the season in the sixth inning of a 10-5 Detroit victory on 9/27; Ex). 9) 1926 (Philadelphia, with Ruth and Gehrig in lineup for Yankees; not scored; Vg). 10) 1930 (St. Louis, with Ruth and Gehrig in lineup for Yankees; not scored, Gd-Vg). 11) 1932 (Philadelphia, with Ruth and Gehrig in lineup for Yankees and Foxx for A's; records Gehrig's 19th home run of the year and Foxx's 29th home run of the season in a 7-4 Yankees win on 6/25; Vg, with pages detached). 12) 1933 (Cleveland, with Ruth and Gehrig in lineup for Yankees; records Ruth's 30th home run of the season in the Yankees 6-1 victory; Ex, with pages detached). 13) 1934 (Detroit, with Ruth and Gehrig in lineup for Yankees; records Ruth's 5th and 6th home runs of the season in a Yankees 10-6 victory on 5/5; Ex-Mt). 14) 1935 (Washington, with Gehrig in lineup for Yankees; Gd). 15) 1936 (Cleveland; with Gehrig and DiMaggio in lineup for Yankees; not scored; Gd-Vg). 16) 1937 (Washington; with Gehrig and DiMaggio in lineup for Yankees; Vg, with tape repair on spine). 17) 1938 (Detroit, with Gehrig and DiMaggio in lineup for Yankees; not scored; Nr-Mt). 18) 1939 (Washington; the game is scored to record an 11-1 Yankees victory, but that score does not correspond to any Yankees home victory over Washington that season; there also appear to be errors in the scoring; Fr). 19) 1939 All-Star Game program. This is a particularly rare All Star Game program, and also one that is plainly designed compared to other All-Star programs, as in 1939 the Yankees simply issued a regular-season program with a specially printed interior scorecard section for the game; it otherwise looks exactly like a regular-season 1939 Yankees program. Lineups include DiMaggio, Greenberg, Cronin, and Dickey for the American League and Ott, Medwick, and Vaughan for the National League. Records a DiMaggio home run in the American League's 3-1 victory. Gd. Total: 19 scorecards. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,370
