1949 Brooklyn Dodgers National League Champions Team-Signed Ball with Robinson and Campanella
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,659
Official National League (Frick) ball signed in blue ink by the following twenty-seven members of the National League Champion Brooklyn Dodgers: Robinson, Campanella, Snider, Reese, Shotton (Mgr., sweet spot), Hodges, Whitman, Rackley, Narron, Edwards, Cox, Roe, Hatten, Banta, Brown, Martin, Branca, Palica, McCormick, Hermanski, Miksis, Barney, Jorgensen, Minner, Furillo, Sukeforth (coach), and Newcombe. The vintage black-ink notation "Dodgers 1949/1949 Brooklyn" appears on the sweet spot. The fact that Sam Narron's signature is on this ball indicates that it was probably signed during spring training, as Narron did not make the club that year (he played with Montreal, Brooklyn's top farm club, in 1949). Signatures range from "6" to "9," averaging "8." The ball has been coated with a light layer of protective shellac, to which there are a few tiny chips, and is otherwise in outstanding Excellent to Mint condition, with all of the manufacturer's labels bold and legible. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,659
