Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $533
One-page handwritten letter, dated May 8, 1952, signed by Connie Mack. In his letter, written on official Philadelphia Athletics letterhead, Mack makes arrangements to attend a game and dinner prior to a trip to New York City. In full:
Dear Mr. Ring. Yours received on May 3rd. Mrs. Mack will make the trip to your city - how many miles is it to where we can get to the high way to New York City. When does the game start and when does the dinner start. We may drive to New York in the evening. If the affair is over in time. With best wishes. Sincerely Yours Connie Mack.
Both the signature and text have been scripted in black fountain pen and grade "9/10." Mack was two years into his retirement from baseball at the time of this letter.
