1925 Miller Huggins Signed Baseball Stock Certificate
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $3,851
St. Paul Base Ball Club, Inc., stock certificate, for fifty shares of capital stock, issued to and signed on the reverse in black fountain pen (grading "10") by Hall of Fame manager Miller Huggins. Huggins has signed the certificate in the area reserved for the future transfer of the stock, but none of the additional information required for such transfer has been filled in. The certificate, numbered "41," is dated February 4, 1925, and has been signed on the front by both the president and secretary of the club. The raised company seal appears in the lower left corner. The signature of Miller Huggins is extremely rare due to his untimely death in 1929 at the age of fifty. The fact that this is both a legal document and baseball related naturally adds to its appeal. The certificate (10.75 x 8.25 inches) displays two vertical folds, with small tears evident at each end of one of the folds. In Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+. SOLD FOR $3,851
