Circa 1961 Frank Baker Single-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,370
Official American League (Cronin) ball signed by Hall of Fame third baseman Frank "Home Run" Baker. Baker has scripted his name in blue ink on a side panel, with the signature grading "8." Frank Baker wasn't elected to the Hall of Fame until 1955 and he died just eight years later. Those circumstances, coupled with the fact that single-signed balls had yet to become the ideal for autograph collectors, has resulted in the significant rarity of Baker single-signed balls today. This ball dates to the 1960 through 1973 manufacturing period, thus confirming that it was obtained by a collector during the last few years of Baker's life. The ball is lightly toned, with a few minor surface blemishes. All of the manufacturer's stampings remain legible. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA.Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $2,370
